Achieving Health Equity and Health Justice

The LGBTQ Integrated Health Coalition of Southern Arizona and the Queer Resource Collective (formerly the LGBTQ Consortium) invite presentation proposals for the 12th Annual Statewide 2SLGBTQIA+ Integrated Health Conference. Let’s Get Better Together: A Quality Look at Healthcare will be held October 18th and 19th, at the Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino and Resort, Maricopa, Arizona. October 18th will feature the Champions of Change Advocacy Institute. October 19th will feature the plenary and breakout sessions.

The theme of the 2023 Let’s Get Better Together Conference is Achieving Health Equity and Health Justice.

Fostering Inclusive Healthcare Practices

The Conference Committee invites workshop proposals that address new and existing healthcare practices for adults and children who identify in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, or Two-Spirit populations. Proposals should address current and proposed best practices in health and human services that focus on eliminating disparities and promoting equity.
The Committee would like to see proposals that discuss how LGBTQ-specific care intersects with various identities, such as race class, ethnicity, age, ability, country of origin, language, gender expression and gender identity, to bring new hope in addressing health equity and eliminating health disparities for so many underserved populations.

All proposals should indicate whether or not their workshop
will appeal to one of our four tracks for this year’s conference:

2SLGBTQIA+ 101 & Health/Human Services

Tools, practices, and improvements-provides the foundational knowledge that many of our new guests request in evaluations.

Racial Justice Work within the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community & Healthcare

Provides information about the harms and tools for anti-racist work within the community.

Opposing Cis-heterosexism in the Workplace

Provides information and tools for anti-patriarchy, anti-sexism, and anti-CIS supremacy within the health & human services work.

The impact of poverty on 2SLGBTQIA+ healthcare access & Social Determinants of Health (SDOH):

Little talked about but with a large impact, this track will discuss the impact of class and poverty on healthcare access, outcomes, and SDOH.

Please keep in mind that the Let’s Get Better Together Conference is statewide. Proposals should discuss how the presenters plan to be inclusive about reaching participants from all areas in Arizona.
